The POWER OF TEN project consists of a number of acts,
revolving around a nucleus of Paul Boyd and David Irvine,
songwriters and musicians, who have collaborated on a
number of recordings spanning nearly twenty years.
There are currently four bands made up from the same
personnel, with the option of bringing in other musicians
when required. The bands involved are Power Of Ten,
Graffiti, The Collectors, and Stone Cold. The purpose is to
have a close group of musicians who can adapt to playing in
in a variety of different situations, a two piece, a four
piece, and three piece made up from members who rotate
depending on availability and gig requirement.
About us...
POWER OF TEN have quite a long history in that the nucleus
of the band, Paul Boyd and David Irvine, have played in
bands and written together for nearly twenty five years.
They were two of the founding members of Northern Irish
rock band No Hot Ashes who were one of the most exciting
and original bands to come from Belfast during the
eighties. No Hot Ashes signed to GWR Records and moved to
London - playing in clubs like The Marquee, the 'Grand Ol'
Oprey' of British rock music. They recorded one Album
before the band split amicably in 1991.
A couple of years elapsed while the various members of the
band did their own thing, playing in other bands and
appearing as session musicians on television, recording and
playing live.
Power of Ten was formed in 1993, originally as a four piece
band, including another ex-No Hot Ashes member Tom Quinn on
vocals and Neil Maxwell on drums, spending a few years
playing in pubs and clubs throughout Northern Ireland. The
band went through a number of different line-ups but the
two members of the band who had been there since the days
of 'The Ashes', Paul Boyd and David Irvine, were ever
present. The band has included Mike Jones on keys, guitars
and vocals, Eddie Booth on guitar and vocals when his own
schedule allows, and Carl McCracken on drums.
Boyd and Irvine built a recording studio in Comber,
Northern Ireland, and once again started to write songs -
culminating in the Feelin' Fine album in 2000. The CD was
not intended for general release but was to be used as a
showcase for publishing companies. However, a year later
and the CD had sold in excess of the original pressing and
other runs have had to be made.
One track, 'Walk On By', was released on a compilation
album in Europe, Rockin' At The Barn Vol 3, by Dusty
Records, Sweden, and other tracks are also receiving
interest.
Later that year a five track CD was recorded which led to
another 4 songs being published with Song House Publishing.
In 2003 Song House Publishing released a CD entitled One
Step Closer , Artist For A Cure, featuring a Power of Ten
track The Things You Do. The proceeds go towards cystic
fibrosis research, so it's all in a good cause. Part with

2003 also saw the studio being relocated, though still in
Comber. It re-opened in January of 2004 and is now taking
bookings for anyone who wishes to do any recording. Make
bookings by clicking the contact us button initially and we
will get back to you to arrange suitable times as soon as
we can.
2004 brought the four original members of Power of Ten back
together again. You may see them out and about as a cover
band under the name of Graffiti, playing a wide range of
music from classic rock to country rock and anything else
really.
There has been some recent interest in No Hot Ashes (Paul
and Dave's band during the eighties), so we may put a few
piccies up here on a special page devoted to NHA. And
possibly, time permitting, remaster a few of the old tracks
if they can be obtained. If anyone out there has any pics
of No Hot Ashes (we know you do) please feel free to email
them to us.
For the latest and oldest info, check
the News. Simple really.
Feel free to Contact Us if you want to book some time in the
studio or book any of the acts to play club, pub or
wedding or function gigs.
Thanks for visiting the site, hope you find something
interesting, and please come back !!
